Privacy Policy

This policy explains what this website collects, what it does not, and how cookies — including advertising cookies — are used. It is written for a free, advertising-supported educational website with no user accounts.

1. The short version

There are no accounts on this site, so there is nothing to sign up for and no profile to fill in. We do not ask for your name, your email, your phone number or any financial information, and we never ask for a wallet seed phrase, private key, password or verification code.

What we do have is the ordinary technical information every website receives, plus cookies used for analytics and advertising, described below.

02

2. Information collected automatically

Like any web server, ours records technical details of each request: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. This is used to keep the site running, diagnose faults and detect abuse.

Your approximate country, derived from your IP address, is used once to choose which of the site's 24 languages to show you. Your language choice is then remembered in a cookie so you are not re-detected on every visit.

03

3. Cookies we set ourselves

A language cookie remembers the language you are reading in, so the site does not switch under you.

An analytics cookie (set by Google Analytics, only after you accept) tells us which articles are read. It is described in section 5.

The language cookie is functional: it holds a preference, not an identity, and is not used to track you across other sites. The analytics cookie is not set at all unless you accept the notice shown on your first visit.

04

4. Advertising

This site's funding model is advertising, including Google AdSense. Where ads are served, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

Where required by law, personalised advertising and non-essential cookies are only used with your consent, which you can give or withdraw through the consent notice shown on the site.

05

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which articles are read and which are not, so we know what to write next and what to improve. Where prior consent is required by law — the EEA, the UK and Switzerland — it loads with consent defaults set to denied, so no analytics cookie is written until you accept. Elsewhere it starts enabled, and you can turn it off at any time through the cookie notice, which is linked in the footer of every page. Decline anywhere and nothing is stored. What it tells us is about pages, not about people: we do not build advertising or behavioural profiles of individual readers ourselves.

06

6. What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not run a newsletter, so we will not email you unless you write to us first.

We do not operate accounts, wallets, balances or payments of any kind on this site.

07

7. Your choices and rights

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. The functional cookies above only store preferences, so blocking them means the site simply forgets your language and theme.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data relating to you — including access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and objection to certain processing. To exercise any of these, write to the support address on our Contact page.

You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

08

8. Retention and transfers

Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, then discarded.

This site and its service providers (hosting, analytics and advertising) may process the technical data above on servers located in other countries, including outside your own.

09

9. Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age required by local law to consent to online services.

10

10. Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. Material changes will be made clear on the page rather than slipped in quietly.

Questions about privacy can be sent to the support address on our Contact page.
